What is the difference between HEALTH and WELLNESS?

Ans:  As we understand it and use the terms the difference is this.  HEALTH is the overall medical, physiological and mental state of your physical body.  The generally accepted, medical community defined status of your condition as a male or female of your age and body type.  WELLNESS is the overall lifestyle you choose to lead.  The physical activity you engage in, the food you eat, the balance in your work and home life you work towards, the care you take in maintaining a good mental and emotional state.  The positive choices you make for your life.

What exactly is an natural essential oil and why is it different than health store or synthetic fragrance oil?  (Sub-Question: Why do essential oils cost more than synthetic?)

Ans:  There is a significant difference between the two and the choice is yours for your home and family. ESSENTIAL OILS: Genuine Essential Oils are pure distillations of the aromatic non-fatty parts of a plant or tree such as blossoms, leaves, roots, bark, resins, etc’… These oils can often be expensive as they take a lot of the natural source ingredient to create the oil, and they are prized for their potent fragrances as well as their medicinal benefits.  For example Lavender Oil requires 200 kg of lavender to obtain 1 kg of Lavender Essential Oil Pure Rose Oil is very expensive why?  well between 1,500-10,000 kg of rose petals are required to extract 1 kg of Rose Essential Oil.  The pure scent of the oil is truly wonderful, and a small amount of the oil will go a long way.      SYNTHETIC OILS/FRAGRANCE OILS: You might not have realized how pervasive synthetic fragrances are, but they are all around us in our daily lives. Air fresheners, perfumes, colognes, cleaning products, laundry products, and most all other household and personal care products contain artificial fragrances made in laboratories from petroleum and a whole host of chemicals, many of which are not so healthy to say the least. These man-made scents attempt to imitate the natural fragrance of Essential Oils at a tiny fraction of the cost, which is unfortunately the leading reason why people only focused on cost choose them. Synthetic oils are also able to reproduce a larger variety of smells and even create new scents that natural oils cannot. What does a Hawaiian breeze smell like exactly anyway? Though one can use these products for years without being adversely affected, it is important to realize that synthetic fragrance oils may contain any number of toxins: Benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, propylene glycol, parabens, and sulfates just to mention a few. In all, there are dozens of commonly used chemicals in these products, 95% of them derived from petroleum byproducts.  A major drawback of a synthetic fragrance oil vs a natural Essential Oil is that the manufactured scent does not contain the therapeutic properties of their counterpart plant based Essential Oils, thus the true benefit and purpose is lost. The synthetic version of any Essential Oil only attempts to mimic the aroma and not the medicinal properties transferred from the plant material itself. So you’re getting a nice scent and nothing else. For some this may be enough to enhance your mood, but for me the synthetic fragrance just isn’t as appealing as it once was before I knew about Essential Oils.

BONUS Why use Young Living Essential Oils??  Ans:  Young Living is the only company that has their own farms (in the regions where the plants should be grown), could absolutely guarantee that no pesticides or herbicides were used in the growing of any of their oils (they use essential oils for pest control and they do all of the weeding by hand), has their own testing equipment (they do both in-house and 3rd party testing, and use many different testing methods not just GC/MS which only tests for certain chemicals, not whether those chemicals are synthetic or not), and only uses the first distillation of oils instead of adding chemicals to get more out of the plant.

Young Living is also the only company directly in charge of essential oil farming operations. Every other company I researched goes through some kind of an “oil broker” to buy their oils. They have to trust that the oil broker is telling the truth, who has to trust that the essential oil distilleries are telling the truth, who have to trust that the farmers are telling the truth about what they say they are doing.

With Young Living, you just have to trust one company instead of several.

What does "Seed to Seal" mean and does it make a difference?

Ans.  Please click this link and you will have everything you need. http://seedtoseal.com/en

Can I just buy specific oils and use for myself and my family or do I have to develop a business?

Yes you can. You are not required to sell anything at all to anyone. When you become a wholesale member you are able to purchase essential oils and products as you wish and with a deep discount over retail customers.  As you become more familiar with the products and the benefits they provide you will find yourself sharing the information just as you do good movies and restaurants, except this is certainly of deeper benefit.  For sharing you have access to this website and get a special link that you can give to those your share with and you get a small commission for their purchases, from the  company for the additional business you have brought to them. There are no minimum sales amounts at all. In fact, 90% of the wholesale members in Young Living don’t do the business side at all. They are buying from Young Living because of the quality alone.

I have tried an oil and it didn't work for me, why?

Ans:  This really requires at least a 2-part answer.  One concerns time and the other is your body makeup.  Time is required for an essential oil to support your system and patience is your friend.  In most cases you will need to consistently use the oil for 2.5 to 3 weeks before you see a difference.  Why?  It takes this long for your body to purge itself of the synthetic chemicals that have been telling your body's system to do something to fully leave the system.  It then takes some time for your body to now recognize the essential oil and for your system to allow your body to create the required response.  SO, did you give it the right amount of time?  Your body chemistry is purely unique to you, therefore you will react to to some things and not others.  Your body will also change over time and what used to work may not work like it did years ago.  So at this point try a different oil.  This is why so many oils provide benefit in similar ways.  Since we are all different in our body makeup, oils respond to us uniquely.

Why should I buy from Young Living instead of other essential oils companies?

Ans:  Young Living is the only company that has their own farms (in the regions where the plants should be grown), could absolutely guarantee that no pesticides or herbicides were used in the growing of any of their oils (they use essential oils for pest control and they do all of the weeding by hand), has their own testing equipment (they do both in-house and 3rd party testing, and use many different testing methods not just GC/MS which only tests for certain chemicals, not whether those chemicals are synthetic or not), and only uses the first distillation of oils instead of adding chemicals to get more out of the plant.

With Young Living, you just have to trust one company instead of several.

Does Young Living test every lot of essential oil?

Ans:  Young Living tests every lot of essential oil, whether from its own farms or from its trusted growers/partners and suppliers. Each essential oil is subjected to state-of-the-art analysis at the Young Living Chemistry Lab. Its team of scientists subjects every essential oil to as many as seven tests, including gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry (MS), refractive index, FTIR, optical rotation, organoleptic analysis, specific gravity analysis, and others when needed. Additionally, Young Living protects against adulteration by inspecting/auditing its farms and steam extraction facilities around the world to examine the herbs that are cultivated, check the essential oils being distilled, and take reference samples directly from the separator to store as a reference in the Young Living Quality Control Labs.

Does Young Living use outside, independent labs?

Ans.  Young Living uses world-class independent labs to confirm in-house analysis. Young Living also sends essential oils out for advanced tests such as carbon isotope analysis. Most of Young Living’s day-to-day essential oil chemical assays are conducted at the Young Living Chemistry Lab in Spanish Fork, Utah, which houses the most advanced analytical instruments available for analyzing the composition of an essential oil.
